Moslims en andere religieuzen dienen binnen de IDF

Naar aanleiding van een vraag van Hannibal aangaande moslims binnen de IDF ben ik even op internet gaan zoeken en kwam onderstaande cijfers tegen van 2007:
According to the IDF Spokeswoman Miri Regev, between 600-800 Bedouin enlist every year voluntarily. Non-Bedouin Arab Muslims(Mostly from villages in the upper Galillee) account for roughly 120 enlistments a year. The CHristian Arab enlistment rate is significantly lower with around 60-80 enlistments a year. I was unable to find figures for Circassian enlistments. Circassians are Descent from people brought to Israel from the Caucasus region of what is now modern Armenia, Azerbajan and Georgia to protect Ottoman interests. They are Sunni Muslim and are very pro-Israel, A few Soviet Union Muslims are living in Israel under both refugee status and elligibility under the law of return as having at least one jewish grandparent or marrying a jew.
De Druzen zijn een ander verhaal, zij hebben er bewust voor gekozen sinds 1956 de dienstplicht te kiezen en zijn een succesvol gemotiveerd onderdeel van de IDF.
br>the Druze public reports of particularly high motivation – more than 85% of the young Julis residents are inducted to the army, and more than 65% join combat units.
Nawaf Nabuani says this is the community and family’s heritage. “The young see the adults and want to be like them. In our family alone there are 23 officers today, two of them lieutenant-colonels. The young ones see and learn.”
“The Defense Ministry and the IDF are the only places in Israel where Druze are really considered completely equal,” he says. “A Druze soldier can reach any unit in the IDF.”

“By law, all Israeli citizens are subject to conscription and it is the Defense Minister’s complete discretion to grant exemption to individual citizens or classes of citizens. A long-standing policy dating to Israel’s early years extends an exemption to all other Israeli minorities (most notably Israeli Arabs). However, there is a long-standing government policy of encouraging Bedouins to volunteer and offer them various inducements, and in some impoverished Bedouin communities a military career seems one of the few means of (relative) social mobility available. Also, Muslims and Christians are accepted as volunteers, even at an age greater than 18.[19]
From among non-Bedouin Arab citizens, the number of volunteers for military service—some Christian Arabs and even a few Muslim Arabs—is minute, and the government makes no special effort to increase it.”
(…)
“While options exist for Haredim to serve in the IDF in an atmosphere conducive to their religious convictions, most Haredim do not choose to serve in the IDF.”

The IAF’s Air Defense Division is known for its high proportion of female soldiers, but last week one of its units made history with the appointment of a fourth female battery commander, giving it the title of the “most female battalion in the IDF.”
