Pushback establishment tegen Snowden pathetisch

Het antwoord van het establishment op Edward Snowdens openbaringen over het geheime programma van de NSA is werkelijk pathetisch te noemen. Zie dit verhaal in de Daily Telegraph:
Now that the dust has settled after the Edward Snowden affair, its time to ask some tough questions about The Guardians scoop of the week. Snowdens story is that he dropped a $200,000 a year job and a (very attractive) girlfriend in Hawaii for a life in hiding in Hong Kong in order to expose the evils of the NSA's Prism programme. But bits of the story are now being questioned.
Je denkt dan: oh, er klopt dus niets van? Nou nee. De auteur, ene Tim Stanley, moet namelijk het volgende toegeven:
None of this debunks outright Snowdens claims that the NSA is gathering data, that it has extraordinary power or that it has lied to Congress about it.
En dan vraag je je af waarom niemand je serieus neemt. Tja, Tim. Wat denk jezelf?
Ik begrijp dat het establishment dit verhaal graag over Snowden wil maken - en ik kan me niet anders voorstellen dan dat de NSA best wat vuile informatie over hem heeft - maar dit begint echt een zielig schouwspel te worden.
