AKP topper: 'Gezi demonstranten kunnen levenslang krijgen'
Fantastisch.
Ja, het gaat echt helemaal de verkeerde kant op in Turkije:
Ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman Mehmet Ali ?ahin said on Wednesday that the Gezi protests constitute a serious crime that requires life sentence because protesters attempted to topple the government through targeting office of the prime minister and other official buildings. He said the initial objective of protesters was suspicious as they directly targeted office of the prime ministry in Dolmabahçe in ?stanbul in the very beginning of the protests.
Juist op het moment dat ik dacht dat het niet erger kon worden (zie mijn meest recente stuk voor FrontPage Magazine), blijkt dat het wel degelijk kan.
Voorlopig is er nog niemand levenslang veroordeeld, maar het is ontzettend zorgwekkend dat er zelfs maar openlijk over gesproken wordt. Ongelooflijk.
