In his first television interview, the leader of the Nusra Front, one of the most powerful jihadist groups in the Syrian insurgency, told Al Jazeera that he believed victory was near; that his battle was a fight to defend Sunni Muslims from a global plan to keep them weak; and that his organization sought to establish, but not rule, an Islamic state.
U verwacht het niet, maar Abu Mohammed al-Jolani zegt de vredesbesprekingen in Zwitserland van volgende maand niet serieus te nemen. Hij wil Assad omver werpen en Sryië veranderen in een extremistisch-islamitische staat. Punt.
Wat geweldig dat het westen Al Nusra in staat heeft gesteld om dé machtigste groep rebellen in Syrië te worden he? En dat natuurlijk met een beetje hulp van Turkije.
